My name is Rich Rumfola and I'm a sports/action photographer...
With a foundation in sports journalism going all the way back to the 5th grade, I’ve spent a lifetime participating in, watching and coaching sports of every kind.
I worked a quarter-century in the alpine skiing world as an instructor, race coach and ski school manager. I’ve coached youth sports and trained the coaches who coached youth sports.
As the sports editor of my college’s student newspaper, I first learned the basics of action photography in dimly-lit gymnasiums with costly rolls of film and late nights in the dark room, desperately trying to come up with something usable for the next issue of the paper.
Cameras have evolved into hand-held computers since then, capable of quickly producing multitudes of stunning images at amazingly low levels of light.
Combining a lifetime of interest in sports with the challenge of creatively and accurately documenting the events I attend, I use my camera to preserve meaningful moments in time that might otherwise be lost to memory.
